Teacher Gifts

Have you started your Teacher Gifts yet? I stole this little diddy from Ms. Martha. Love it. In the packet is a little not saying "Thank you for helping {insert child's name} grow this year... and then a personalized message, a packet of seeds and a piece of chalk. Wrap it with a bow, and voila! Original enough I hope.

Reading

So how is everybody's reading going? Im doing great! Right on track and having a good time. I havent posted about it lately because, frankly, I didnt get a whole lot of response last time so I figured people wanted to keep to themselves. Thats fine. I'll just post to let you know that I am still here and keeping with the program. If for nothing else then to hold myself accountable.

We had Caitlyns dance recital a week ago. I really want to post the video on here - but it hasnt been letting me. I promise to get it working and up. I promise - you will want to see this, and it wont be like that California dance group that everyone has been talking about recently. Thanks to Heather it was a tastefully done performance and all the girls did great!

To close out the school year she also has her piano recital tonight. It should be really cute. Video to come!

It took me forever.
The idea came from Sarah - but originally from Martha Stewart.
I look at it all the time and smile.

Have you started yet? Its not too late!

Two days into my/our reading challenge and I'm feeling great. How 'bout you?
Its quite sad actually how much I am not a consistent reader. Its so easy, especially as parents, to "count" family scripture reading as personal scripture reading. Dont get me wrong, family scripture study has been great - especially for Caitlyn - but everything gets discussed on a very juvenille level. Even in just the past two days I have rediscovered that I love to delve in, and study.
So, I am in Nephi 6. With my new calling in Young Womens I have found myself looking for the values in the scriptures, and they are really not hard to pick out. I am amazed at the faith that Nephi had. Not only just faith, but faith put in motion. He ACTED on his faith:
1 Nephi 4:6-7 - "And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do. Nevertheless I went forth..."
Just as Nephi had faith, so did Lehi. He ACTED on his faith by moving his family, and once faith has be acted upon, we, just as they did, can build KNOWLEDGE
1Nephi 5 - "I know that the Lod will deliver my sons out of the hands of Laban..."

I feel like I am writing a talk. I just wanted to share what I have relearned over the past couple of days. It is amazing the information that you can get from the scriptures, and that is just the first few pages.

If you havent started yet, its not too late! Begin now! Feel free to discuss here what you have gotten from the reading. I would love to hear. I will be updating about my reading every couple of days, so check back often.

And a sweet shout out to Chad for doing this with me. It means a lot :)
