Creativity

Need a good art project for Forth of July? Check this out.... well, really it isnt too inventive, but we had a great time with the girl cousins today. We decorated some shirts and enjoyed one another's company. We missed you Laura and the boys!

Yeah, Caitlyn's got a little out of control. I'm well aware. I especially like that Brooklynn and Brynlee's names made it to the shirt, right Summer? Whatever! it was for them to have fun with anyways! I think I will be making another one to match Nathans a bit better - for pictures.

This is late, but I just have to give a major shout out to Sarah for throwing me a "not"baby shower - dinner party:) a couple of Saturdays ago.
Okay, I have this thing against baby showers for people that have both sexes of kids. I dont think that it's necessary, but jeez my two kids were 5 years ago and I got rid of all our baby stuff... so the compromise.... a small dinner party for some close girl friends, and Sarah delivered - Martha Stewart Style. Check out this tablescape! I was totally blown away by her efforts. Its was gorgeous.

All of those who could make it had a great time. The dinner was fantastic and the conversation did not dissapoint. How could it with this group? Laree alone could entertain for hours :)

We finished out the night playing a great game of Mall Madness. Thats right, Mall Madness. Sarah and I found it at a thrift store for 8 bucks... fully shrinkwrapped still! Amazing! Such a good time.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of those who came and to Sarah for all of her effort. It was a great night and one I wont forget.

Principle

I am officially boycotting John and Kate Plus 8. I will no longer watch that train wreck.

I just had to say that out loud.

Has this ever happened to you?

So, I'm in line at the grocery store. In front of me is a mom with her teenage son buying, what I later found out was, around 300 spiral bound notebooks for his Eagle Scout Project. I'm sitting there praying that they dont all have to be individually rung up. I would have gone to another line, but trust me, the prospects there didnt look any brighter. So, as I was waiting in line, the "20 items or less" lane right next to me was completely open with a checker that looked rather bored. She waved me over eventhough I exceeded the 20 item limit. I was a little hesitant because I am definitely the person that will give you a bad look if I am waiting behind you while your ring up your big order. You better believe I would be counting your items thinking "All I need to do is buy these two things!".

So - what do you do?

I let her ring me up, and of course right as she gets started a couple with only three items comes up behind an waits.... I wanted to share with all those around me, "Oh, dont worry, she told me to come here - I would never exceed the amount on my own" - but that would have just been foolish. So, I tried to hurry her along, but they must have put her there because she can only handle a few items. It seemed to take twice as long.

I left wondering if I should have just passed on her kind offer to help and stood in the "I have a lot of things" line.

Any opinions?

angel

C'mon - if this picture doesnt make you swoon I dont know what will. Chad took this shot before we headed off to church. Knock on wood but we have had two successful weeks of sacrament meeting. No load offenses and nobody has had to leave. Yeah!

Family Night fun

Is this an appropriate Family Home Evening activity?
I think it's up for debate....
Caution - some nudity ahead.

7 hours later

Does anyone else have a room that refuses to stay clean? It's usually the vortex where the kids' toys reside. No, just me?
A couple of Saturdays ago I enlisted the help of Chad and the kids to organized and clean the playroom. Everybody worked hard... it was really dirty. Seven hours, four goodwill bags, and three trash bags later it was finally finished.
We now have a toy area, and art area and and media area. I love the new flow and I think the kids appreciate it too.
It may be a small accomplishment, but I LOVE days where I can see such a huge physical result of my efforts. It doesnt happen too often.
